About Hamza Masjid

Our History

Hamza Masjid was established in 1999 by a dedicated group of Muslims in the Parkdale neighbourhood — a vibrant community of approximately 1,000 Muslim families. Since its founding, the Masjid has been the spiritual heart of the area, offering daily prayers, Friday Juma congregations, and Taraweeh during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Hamza Masjid is registered as a charitable organization under Canadian income tax law (Registration No. BN 875318321 RR0001). A dedicated committee manages daily affairs and finances, with full transparency — all transactions are publicly available for community review at any time.

Purchasing the Masjid

The community launched a fundraising campaign in May 2005 to purchase the existing Masjid space. Alhamdulillah, through the generous support of the community, Hamza Masjid was purchased for $1.2 million on July 31, 2015. By the end of July 2017, all Qard Hasana was repaid and the Masjid became completely debt-free, alhamdulillah.

The community — largely composed of new immigrants and low-income families — gave generously despite their constraints, demonstrating extraordinary commitment to their faith and their neighbourhood.

The Expansion Project

We are now planning to purchase the adjacent storefront to expand Hamza Masjid. The expansion will provide an extended prayer hall, a dedicated ladies' section, and a full Madrasa facility. We need to raise $1.5 million to accomplish this noble goal. To date, $900,000 has been collected — alhamdulillah.

As our community has already embarked on this project, we humbly request your continued support, keeping in mind the great rewards promised by Allah ﷻ for those who help build a House of Allah:

"مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ مِثْلَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ"

"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him something similar in Paradise." — Bukhari & Muslim

Our Future Plans

Future plans include facilities for funeral (Janazah) services and a full-time Islamic school for Muslim children, incorporating the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum alongside comprehensive Islamic studies — giving our children the best of both worlds.

May Allah ﷻ bless all who have contributed and reward you in this life and in the hereafter.
